Retrieved from http://krishikosh.egranth.ac.in/handle/1/2041729 Littleleaf disease probably has been present for many years in northwestern Alabama, although two reports in 1934 and 1935 constitute the first recorded observations of the new disease of pines. The division of Forest Pathology made preliminary surveys on the distribution of the disease from 1936 to 1940, and Siggers and Doak (28), reported it as widesread in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. Thise wide distribution and apparent seriousness of rhe disease on thousands of acres in the Southeast stimulated a demand for research on its cause and possible means of control. In 1940 funds became available for a full-scale attack on the problem http://krishikosh.egranth.ac.in/handle/1/2041729
