Who's Involved

Britt Townsend

Britt works as a conservation forester for the Tennessee Chapter of The Nature Conservancy where she leads the operation and management of the Bridgestone Nature Reserve at Chestnut Mountain, a 6,000-acre research platform dedicated to the study and demonstration of forest resilient management strategies which include the restoration of fire adapted oak-pine systems.

Her passion for shortleaf pine and fire ecology stems from her childhood, learning about and growing up near the longleaf pine forests of the Carolina coastal plain.  Britt earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Forestry from the University of Maine.  She is a Registered Forester and has over ten years of experience managing forests on private land and has a strong background in forest certification and forest carbon programs.  Britt resides in Sparta, Tennessee with her husband Jordan, and two dogs.  She enjoys gardening, gravel biking, and good craft beer.
