Who's Involved

Clarence Coffey

Clarence Coffey grew up in the hills of East Tennessee, where his early years were shaped by time spent hunting, logging, and exploring the natural world. He studied at Hiwassee College and Tennessee Technological University before beginning a 35-year career with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Over the decades, Clarence served in five different roles, ultimately retiring as a Regional Manager.

Following his state service, Clarence joined the newly formed Shortleaf Pine Initiative under the leadership of Ken Arney. In this role, he traveled extensively—from Texas to New Jersey—advocating for the restoration and recognition of the “forgotten” pine. His passion for wildlife, land stewardship, and public service continues to shape his efforts in conservation today, as he invests his time in mentoring the next generation of conservation leaders.
