Dr. Davis GoodeDr. Davis Goode serves as the Director of Forest Programs for The Nature Conservancy in Alabama. He holds a Ph.D. in applied forest ecology from the University of Alabama, where his research focused on the effects of wind disturbance and prescribed fire on mixed oak–shortleaf pine forests in Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau. Prior to joining TNC, Davis worked as a researcher for the USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station, contributing to the revision of old growth guidance for the Southern Region. He has authored or co-authored 18 peer-reviewed scientific articles and one book chapter, with a focus on ecological silviculture in oak–shortleaf pine systems. Davis is particularly interested in forest ecosystem resilience and natural disturbance-based management. His research demonstrates that thoughtful integration of shortleaf pine into oak-dominated forests can improve their resistance to climate change and other stressors. He is passionate about advancing awareness and understanding of the ecological value and function of shortleaf pine forests and woodlands across their native range. |
